By taking dance classes at HPA, middle school students can expect to learn a variety of dance genres including ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, world dance and more. The goal is for each student to gain an appreciation for dance as an art form and to give them the tools to continue pursuing dance in high school and beyond if they wish. Dancing can also be great for their mental and physical health and increase physical strength and flexibility.

The award-winning HPA Middle School Dance Company, under the direction of Andrea Gallier, is open to incoming 6th graders up to 8th grade. This hardworking group of dancers perform at an annual showcase, at competitions, and at community performances. Dancers have ample opportunities to create and perform their own choreography in addition to learning from professionals. Auditions are held in May each year.
The award-winning HPA JV Dance Company, under the direction of Marlo Harris, is an excellent avenue for high schoolers looking to further their dance education and experiences. This hard-working group of dancers perform at the high school company showcase, compete in competitions, and more. The award-winning HPA Varsity Dance Company, also under the direction of Marlo Harris, is the highest level of dance offered at HPA. These talented dancers perform at the high school showcase, compete in competitions, and participate in other public performances. Many of these dancers are looking to extend their careers in dance past high school, while others simply love the thrill of performing and being part of a driven and hard-working team. Dancers have ample opportunities to create and perform thier own choreography in addition to learning from professionals. Auditions are held in May each year.
